Skatetown on North Broadway is the city’s enduring roller-skating birthday venue — the wood floor, the disco lighting, the snack bar, the rolling rentals in every kid size, the cake-cutting at picnic tables off the rink. The format has not really changed in decades and that is the appeal; parents who skated here as kids in the 1990s now bring their own.
Birthday packages include skate rental for every guest, a designated party table, soft drinks and place settings, and add-ons for pizza, hot dogs, glow sticks, and personalized roller-skate cakes. A $100 deposit is required within three days of booking. The rink runs themed sessions — glow skate, family skate, all-ages — and most birthday parties book inside one of those public sessions, which keeps the energy high with other kids on the floor. The arcade off the rink fills the breaks. Free parking out front, North Knoxville location keeps the drive short for Halls and Fountain City families. Reserve two to three weeks ahead for Saturday afternoons.
