Schulz Bräu Brewing Company

Schulz Bräu sits a few blocks off Broadway in Old North Knoxville and is the city’s German-Bavarian brewery in the literal sense — lagers, hefeweizens, kellerbiers, and the mug-club tradition that makes a 30th- or 40th-birthday gathering feel like a small festival rather than a sectioned-off bar table. The beer garden is the draw most of the year, and the property includes a covered, heated portion that keeps the format usable in winter.

The Private Mezzanine on the second floor handles seated gatherings of about 60 or standing parties up to 100, with its own bar service and a view over the main hall. A semi-private beer-garden section and an enclosed Biergarten Dome (seating eight) work for smaller intimate groups; both book in four-hour blocks paid in advance. Schulz does not run a kitchen for these spaces, so most hosts coordinate with one of the food trucks that rotate through the property, or bring catering from a nearby Old North restaurant. Reserve two to three weeks out, longer for the popular Oktoberfest months.
