Ironside Axe Club’s West Des Moines flagship is the 11,000-square-foot version of axe throwing — full bar, large outdoor patio, multiple coached lanes, and target options that include axes, hatchets, big axes, and knives. For a 30th, a 40th, a bachelorette, or just a Saturday-night birthday with a dozen friends, it scales without feeling like a chain.
A trained Axe Coach runs every booked group, walks beginners through stance and grip, and runs tournament-style brackets if you want one. Birthday and event packages bundle 90 minutes to two hours of throwing with food and beverage minimums that the coordinator helps you size. The age minimum is 13 with a parent for full lanes, but most birthday groups here are college-age and up. The University Avenue location parks well and sits a short drive from Smash Park and the Jordan Creek corridor for after-party plans.
