About This Venue
The Iowa Taproom anchors the corner of East 3rd and Walnut in the East Village and pours more than 120 Iowa-only beers on tap, which is the largest dedicated Iowa beer list in the state. For a 30th, 40th, or 50th birthday in downtown Des Moines, it is one of the few rooms that feels distinctly local rather than generic chain-hotel ballroom.
Two private spaces handle larger groups: the Marquette Room is a 60-plus-person reception space with its own bar, and the smaller Joliet Room is a cellar-style space with exposed brick that works well for a seated dinner of 20. Both come with their own AV setup and a dedicated event coordinator who builds out food and beverage packages from the kitchen menu. The downtown East Village location means guests can walk to coffee, cocktails, or hotels before and after, which is the kind of detail that sets a milestone party apart from a one-stop venue.
