About This Venue
Gameday Lanes is the rebuilt and rebranded version of the old Merle Hay Lanes, paired with the Gameday sports bar and kitchen next door. The reno added cosmic lighting, modern bumper systems, and a full arcade alongside the 24 traditional lanes, while keeping the worn-in neighborhood feel that the original had. For Des Moines proper north-side birthdays, it is the most convenient bowling-and-food option that does not require driving to the western suburbs.
Birthday packages cover lane rental, shoe rental, pizza or appetizers, and soft drinks, with a dedicated host for kids' events. The Gameday side runs a full made-from-scratch kitchen and a 30-tap bar, so adult parties can pivot from bowling to dinner without leaving the building. Glow bowling on Friday and Saturday nights is the most popular slot for tween and teen parties. Lanes are first-come on weekend afternoons unless reserved, so book ahead for parties of 10 or more.
